What Is PAS 2035?
PAS 2035 was introduced following the government commissioned Each Home Counts review. The review set out to identify a better process for retrofitting energy effiency and renewable energy measures in residential dwellings.
PAS 2035 is an overarching document that provides a specification and best practice for effective energy efficient domestic retrofit projects. Ensuring high quality standards are met, the scheme is backed both by the industry (Trustmark) and the government.
PAS 2035 Retrofit Assessors
Here at YPM, we are accredited Domestic Energy Assessors (DEAs) who can facilitate your PAS 2035 needs. Our Retrofit Assessors are trained to effectively undertake a retrofit assessment in accordance with PAS 2035 documentation. The activities included within this assessment include producing an RdSAP assessment, detailed floor plan, condition report and occupancy assessment.
Once the information and data has been collected, a Retrofit Coordinator uses it to formulate a Medium-Term Improvement Plan.
Viewing The House As One Entire System
In order to assess the suitability of energy efficient improvements, Retrofit Assessors must view a house as one entire system. With respect to this idea, the following elements must be assessed:
• The building fabric
• The building services (heating, hot water, ventilations, lighting and appliances)
• What renewable energy systems are installed (LZC technologies)
• Occupancy behaviour
The last in the list above is important as occupants require comfort, use lighting and appliances and emit heat.
PAS 2035 Retrofit Assessment
The purpose of a retrofit assessment is to determine the overall suitability of a building for energy efficiency improvements. Both history and condition are taken into consideration when undertaking the assessment. An analytical approach is taken, identifying defects and performance failures. Reasons for defects are identified, alongside what actions can be taken to fix them and prevent them from happening again.
